| Do I still have to review the buckets ? |
| You will still have to review the buckets for planning & migration considerations.
However, using the tool any referenced SMP/E installable APAR/PTF should be compared
to your target zone to determined if it is installed.

 |
| Do I always need to use the Graphical User Interface (GUI)? |
No ! The GUI was provided as a method to help
locate extract files without having to know specific upgrade/device & subset names.
- When you use the download an extract file, an FTP URL will be in the address line.
Once you have this url, you can download with this address without going through the GUI.
- If you know the upgrade/device and subset, you can build a FTP URL address line using the
following methodology :
"ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/s390/pspapartool/"
appended with upgrade/device name
appended with "_"
appended with susbset name (with dash substtituted for any underscore)
appended with ".txt"
for instance if the upgrade/device name = "2064DEVICE" and the subset name = "2064_ZOS"
the extract url = "ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/s390/pspapartool/2064DEVICE_2064-ZOS.extract"

| Can I get a single PSP extract file for all the buckets I am interested in? |
| Currently, the tool does not support this. Each extract file will have to downloaded separately.
However, you can manually append requested files into a single file to be used as the input file for the
Host Compare program; The commented lines within in the extract file(s) that contain the title and extract date/time are ignored.
|
 |
| How often are the PSP extract files updated? |
| They are refreshed once a day, at approximately 2:00 AM Eastern Standard Time. |
 |
What PSP buckets are supported by this tool? also known as ...
I looked for a bucket (WebSphere, DB2 ,etc) but could not find it in the tool. Is it supported? |
Currently, the tool supports approximately 300 buckets including
a) base components of supported OS/390 and Z/OS releases,
b) latest hardware buckets supported by the OS/390 and Z/OS releases, and
c) several z/OS Cross Function buckets (for example, SYSPLEXDS)
The ability to support more or all PSP buckets in the OS/390 and z/OS
environment has been noted but there is no plan to do so at the current time.
